Elton John's Diamond and Sapphire Brooch Up For Auction

The flashy piece shown above is a sapphire-and-diamond brooch worn by singer Elton John and now up for auction. Sir Elton wore the 1930s Art Deco piece in his 1988 music video "I Don't Wanna Go on With You Like That." A photograph of him wearing this clip during the filming of the video accompanies this lot. The piece will be auctioned at Bonhams in London on Thursday, September 25 and is estimated to sell for £12,000 - 15,000

Gisele Bundchen
You may not look like Gisele Bundchen but if you have the money you can own her jewelry. The Brazilian bombshell who is much beloved on our pages, is selling a six carat diamond pendant estimated at $120,000 to $150,000 as well as a 3.35 carat Sabbadini yellow diamond ring estimated at $15,000 to $20,000 as part of the Christie's Jewels: The New York Sale auction on October 15, 2008. Gisele hasn't revealed who bought the pieces for her but I'm guessing it wasn't her current quarterback squeeze Tom Brady and rumors abound over whether her ex-boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio was the mystery purchaser. A portion of proceeds from the auction will go to the Diamond Empowerment Fund.

Hip Hop Jewels
Remember the necklace shown above? Well now it can be yours along with a number of other items of mega-bling from the hip hop world.Phillips de Pury & Co. is holding the Hip Hop's Crown Jewels auction which will feature around 50 iconic pieces worn by hip hop luminaries such as 50 Cent, Biz Markie, MC Lyte, Kanye West and the late Notorious B.I.G and Tupac Shakur. Major pieces include Missy Elliot's diamond, black diamond and gold turntable ring, Biz Markie's black and white diamond headphones pendant, Sean "Diddy" Combs diamond and platinum bracelet, Pharrell Williams' pave diamond Gucci link necklace, Slick Rick's multicolor diamond-set eye patch and of course Lil' Jon's famous diamond and yellow diamond "Crunk Ain't Dead" pendant which weighs nearly 12 pounds and boasts 3,756 round-cut white diamonds total set in 18K yellow and white gold. A portion of proceeds from the sale will benefit Russell Simmons' Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, the Hip Hop Summit Action Network and the Diamond Empowerment Fund.

Calvin and Kelly Klein
They say jewelry is a bad investment but it depends on what you buy. Calvin Klein, who bought jewels belonging to the Duchess of Windsor for Kelly Klein made quite a return on his investment. The collection of natural pearls the couple put up for sale brought in $4.82 million, far above the $3.1 million high estimate. I hope whoever bought it wears it, wearing pearls helps them keep their luster.

Italy's Princess Maria Gabriella of Savoy
Italy's Princess Maria Gabriella of Savoy auctioned off 41 lots of rare jewels at Christie's in order to help pay her taxes. The auction included the Faberge tiara shown above. The piece is referred to as the Empress Josephine Tiara because the briolette-cut diamonds (the ones shaped like teardrops )were given to the French empress by Tsar Alexandra I following her divorce from Napoleon I. The piece was created around 1890 and is mounted in silver and gold.

Elizabeth Taylor
Elizabeth Taylor has auctioned off a variety of pieces from her now defunct House of Taylor Jewelry collection. This piece is a four strand, diamond and golden pearl necklace auctioned at Christie's in 2007.

Ellen Barkin
After Ellen Barkin divorced Ron Perelman she sold of more than 100 pieces of her impressive collection, gathered during her six year marriage to the Revlon tycoon. The sale surpassed estimates bringing in $20.3 million. Barkin's wedding ring sold for $130,000 and the highest item was a 22.76-carat diamond ring which went for $1.8 million.
